Notts Fabian Society debates: The rapidly changing face of democracy. 1st December

With 2012 set to be a decisive year for local politics the Notts Fabian Society is meeting to debate the future. 2012 will see the election of Police & Crime Commissioners and Referenda in 11 Cities across Britain (including Nottingham) on whether to have a Directly Elected Mayor.

The panel of speakers will include:

Rory Palmer (Deputy Mayor of Leicester) in favour of Mayors
Paddy Tipping (Former MP for Sherwood) on Elected Police & Crime Commissioners
Jamie McMahon (Political Assistant to the Labour Group) against Mayors proposal
Tony Eggington (Mayor of Mansfield) on the experience of an independent Mayor

Thursday 1st December, 7:30pm at UNISON, Regional Office, Vivian Avenue, NG5 1AF.

Free to all Notts Fabian Society members.
Non members can join the society on the night for £5 to enter.
