mnmlist: Immigration, Integration and Identity: Has multiculturalism failed and how should the Left respond?
Wednesday 28 March, 7.30-9pm (doors open from 7pm) at UNISON,
Vivian Avenue, Nottingham NG5 1AF
Recent years have seen a shift to the right in public attitudes to immigration. Nottinghamshire Fabian Society invites you to a public meeting to discuss whether multiculturalism has failed and how the Left should respond to a new politics of identity. Our guest speakers are:
Seema Malhotra, Labour & Co-operative MP for Feltham & Heston. She set up the Fabian Women’s Network and is a former Chair of the Fabians;
Anthony Painter, political commentator and researcher. He wrote ‘The Politics of Perpetual Renewal’ (Demos, 2010) that outlined the political impact of changing UK demographics and is a co-author of Searchlight’s Fear and Hope survey.
We are very grateful to our event sponsors, the Nottinghamshire Lincolnshire Erewash Co-Operative Party for helping put on this event.
