mnmlist: Priorities for Labour in the County Council elections, May 2013
In May, the county goes to the polls for the County Council Elections. Nottinghamshire is seen as a key Labour target and hopes are high that Labour can regain control of the County Council from the Conservatives. We are interested in what the priorities for an incoming Labour administration would be particularly after Kay Cutts’ radical Conservative administration.
Furthermore, with the City Council being held by Labour, what are the possibilities for cooperation between City and County Councils should Labour succeed in retaking County Hall too? In addition, what should their relations be with the existing Coalition govt and any incoming Labour one in 2015?
Helping us to discuss these questions and others are:
Alan Rhodes, The Leader of the Labour Group at Nottinghamshire County Council,
Alex Norris, Cabinet Member and Portfolio Holder for Area Working, Cleansing and Community Safety at Nottingham City Council,
and Catherine Staite, Director of the Institute for Local Government (INLOGOV) at the University of Birmingham.
The evening will be chaired by Kevin Quigley, who will put your questions to the panel. In the run up to the May elections, we are pleased to open this debate on the priorities for Labour to our members and the general public across the county.
All are welcome. The event is free to members (you may join or renew your membership on the door; £5 full/£1 conc), or £2 on the door for non-members.
